Caylene is confident about her new business

Caylene is not only a self-taught nail technician but is also doing a Bachelor of Arts in environmental management.

Starting a business in the midst of a pandemic may seem like an impossible mission, but that is a challenge that Caylene Feldman is taking on.

The young businesswoman established her business called Polished_by_Bay in February, earlier this year and she says that business has been booming.

The 20-year-old opened her new business at her home in Del Judor and she dreams of having her own nail bar and possibly employ young ladies to work with her in the near future.

The young entrepreneur has always been passionate about nails and beauty; she says that she used to do experiments on her nails. She managed to perfect her craft by buying nail equipment and using them on her family members, who have been her greatest supporters.

Caylene is not only a self-taught nail technician but is also doing a Bachelor of Arts in environmental management, which she finds interesting.

“With lockdown, a lot of people are cautious and being safe so not a lot of people want to do their nails especially with the rise in infections, but nonetheless, I still get some clients and we do follow the Covid-19 protocol,” added Caylene.

Caylene mentions that she would like to help ladies that cannot afford to do their nails for matric farewells and also make affordable specials for her clients once the business starts doing well.
