Witbank CPF members stand behind the ‘No looting in eMalahleni’ initiative

Members of the CPF have taken partnerships with the Central Business District (CBD) Business Forum and taxi associations in assisting the police with high visibility patrols.

The Community Police Forum (CPF) is mandated by Chapter 7 of the South African Police Act no. 68 of 1995 and therefore support the SAPS in their actions to prevent looting, burning or vandalising of any property.

Members of the CPF have taken partnerships with the Central Business District (CBD) Business Forum and taxi associations in assisting the police with high visibility patrols.

It is saddening that even though such efforts by the SAPS, CPF and other role players, there are still people spreading rumours about shops being looted and burnt to cause fear or panic within the communities.

Members of the CPF would like to urge people to stop spreading these rumours and rather join the program in preventing crime within the city of eMalahleni.

As the CPF they are also pleading with community members to remain calm and to not take the law into their own hands.

“Let us unite and take hands with police and other law enforcement agencies to restore peace, calm and tranquilly in our town and let us also unite in prayer,” said Madelon Troskie, Chairperson of the local CPF.
