Although people are grappling to understand what drives women to abandon babies.

Desperation and anonymity are endless causes many women dump their babies.

Sadly the reality of poverty and social problems means many new mothers feel unable to cope with their children and then there is the inability to communicate with family members. Don’t abandon your baby – You have options!

Whatever the reason may be, Maureen Scheepers, founder of the South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) Baby Safe Box division pleads to the women to use the facilities that are available for them and the baby that has all right to live its life to the fullest.

WITBANK NEWS reported in September 2019 about the first South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) Baby Safe Box that was installed in the busy street of Mandela Drive and so the second baby safe box was launched in November 2019, after WITBANK NEWS reported about an abandoned baby that was found in Spring Valley wandering off by himself and SACCW saw the need for a baby-safe box in that area. In 2020 the news of the third baby box was announced, which is situated in the Central Business District in Hertzog Street.

“There is no excuse to abandon your baby anymore, please make use of the boxes and give your baby the chance to survive and have a full life. Anyone that requires more information regarding the Baby Save Box can contact me directly on 082 565 6770,” Scheepers concluded.
