Eden Park murder – case will be heard in the high court

The motive for the murder is still unknown.

A woman that stays on the plot where suspected Eden Park murderer Mr Tertius du Plessis stayed with his girlfriend told WITBANK NEWS that he had a short temper.

Du Plessis was the caretaker on the premises where the woman, who asked to stay anonymous, stays. “He looked normal so to speak and had a lovely girlfriend, but I found he used to get cross easily,” she said.

The woman said they were busy moving to a house on the plot, and she asked Du Plessis to paint the house for them.

“Whilst moving to the house, he asked if we could drop him off in town because he wanted to buy pizza and coke for his girlfriend and her daughters as he thought they needed a treat. We dropped him off near the KFC and thought nothing further. About midnight, the landlord called and asked if we dropped him off and gave us all the details. We didn’t know what transpired earlier on that day.”

Du Plessis will know on June 5 when his court case in the high court will start.

During his appearance on June 5, he looked relieved when he heard that a high court date will be given on July 29.

Right from the start, Du Plessis admitted that he murdered the 86-year-old Ms Johanna Rossouw in her home in Eden Park Retirement Village on January 31. He handed himself over at Mondeor Police Station after a massive manhunt traced him to Krugersdorp on February 1 where he left Rossouw’s car.

The motive for the murder is still unknown.

Du Plessis tried to speak to WITBANK NEWS on a previous appearance, but was stopped by correctional service officers.
