The #FreeJacobZuma protests started on Friday, July 9 in KwaZulu-Natal and flowed over to Gauteng over the weekend. 

 

Last night (July, 11) various groups of protesters in Phola and Ogies gathered following the movement where cars and trucks were set alight on the N12 highway and various shops in Ogies were looted. 

 

President Cyril Ramaphosa in his address to the nation last night said those behind the violent protests and anarchy would be arrested and prosecuted.

 

“As a nation, we will not tolerate any acts of criminality. We will not tolerate any acts of vandalism. Those who are involved in acts of violence will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.
