Shops in eMalahleni CBD close doors as a precautionary measure

Other shopping centres in eMalahleni and surrounding areas closed some of their side entry gates but businesses are open.

Some businesses and shops in the Central Business District (CBD) in eMalahleni closed their doors as a precautionary measure in case of possible protest action.

According to Witbank SAPS, spokesperson Sgt David Ratau they were instructed to close down the businesses and shops on Monday, July12 for the safety of employers, their employees and residents in the area.

Other shopping centres in eMalahleni and surrounding areas closed some of their side entry gates but businesses are open.

It is believed that the expected protests could be part of the #FreeZuma movement that has allegedly escalated to Mpumalanga on Sunday evening, July 11 as unrest started in Phola/Ogies where trucks were set alight and roads were closed down.
