Left stranded in a bush after being hijacked

The victim opened a case of hijacking and armed robbery at Witbank Police Station

The increase of hijackings is no secret to the residents of eMalahleni as the number of these crimes rises by the day.

On June 29, a resident from extension-10 had his ordeal as two suspected hijackers pointed him with a firearm while demanding him to allegedly get into the backseat before they took the victim on a road trip of hell.

It’s alleged that the victim was traveling home when two men approached him at a traffic light close to his house.

The driver of the vehicle drove with an open window when the two men appeared next to his window.

It is believed that one of the suspects took out a firearm and instructed him to move to the back seat before they climbed into his vehicle and drove off with him.

It’s believed that the suspects drove to an unknown place and picked up another suspect before they robbed him from his cell phone and wallet, threatening him to give his bank card pin or else they will hurt him.

After they got what they wanted they allegedly chucked him in the boot and removed the tracking device.

It was further alleged that they traveled with the victim for an unknown time before dropping him off in the bushes, which were later confirmed that it was at Tweefontein.

The victim opened a case of hijacking and armed robbery at Witbank Police Station.

No arrests have been made yet but the case is still being investigated.

Police spokesperson Capt Eddie Hall said drivers should be more alert, especially this time of the year as it gets darker earlier.

“People returning from work are often tired, frustrated and not alert to potentially threatening circumstances. Yet, this is when you must be most alert,” Hall concluded.
