Family eventually found ‘missing man’

The unknown man was transported to Vosman Police Station where they stated that they could not help him as he couldn't tell them where he stays or give any personal information.

In November last year, WITBANK NEWS reported about an elderly man that was found in a field next to the road in Vosman by Ms Maureen Scheepers from the South African Community Crime Watch and Pastor Nadine van Schalkwyk from Lewende Woord Witbank, while on their routine weekly trip to feed the community.

“We thought that he was dead in the way he was laying but luckily I could see he was still breathing and tried to wake him up. He was very confused when he woke up and couldn’t explain to us what was wrong,” Scheepers explained.

The unknown man was transported to Vosman Police Station where they stated that they could not help him as he couldn’t tell them where he stays or give any personal information and advised the women to take him to Witbank Hospital.

As the man had no injuries and was just confused the hospital could not offer any assistance either.

The severely dehydrated and hungry man was then left in the care of Edith Ngwenya.

The man later identified himself as Madala Sithole.

Scheepers van Van Schalkwyk tried everything in their power to locate the man’s family by making use of numerous social media platforms and even taking him for fingerprints at the Department of Home Affairs in a desperate attempt to reunite him with his family.
