Emalahleni Councillor dies in car accident

It was a sad day for the Emalahleni Local Municipality as one of its councillors passed away.

The spokesperson, Mr Lebo Mofokeng said, “the employees and personnel are saddened about the untimely passing on of Councillor Maphoyisa Fakude.”

The late Cllr Fakude was the councillor of Ward 4 in Hlalanikahle, Emalahleni Local Municipality, and PR Councillor in Nkangala District

“He was involved in a fatal vehicle accident on Saturday, July 3 at around 14:00, together with his wife while driving back home from a funeral in Bronkhorstspruit. We pray for his wife, Mrs Fakude that is still in hospital and wish her a speedy recovery,” Mofokeng added.

Arrangements for his funeral will be communicated once the family has confirmed and finalised the arrangements.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and community of eMalahleni. May they find solace in knowing that their loss is just as big a sorrow for the entire community he served,” Mofokeng concluded.
