Donation of blankets leaves people in tears of joy

Lets keep the people of eMalahleni warm this winter.

MJM Industries was on the quest to keep eMalahleni warm this winter with their campaign of donating blankets to the less fortunate people.

On Saturday, June 5 members of MJM have visited homes that were identified by key humanitarian role players to give them warm blankets.

The members of this construction and water infrastructure company have set out to target Spring Valley, Coronation, Empumelelweni and Klarinet under the Emalahleni Local Municipality from the beginning of April to June 2.

Since it is winter many people are experiencing bad weather conditions that leave them freezing, therefore members of MJM have been collecting blankets from the community members and sponsors to donate to the less fortunate people. According to MJM Industries, these cold fronts are the reason why they decided to warm people who are disadvantaged this winter.

The CEO of MJM, Mr Jacob Mafahla said that this donation is not for personal pride, but for showing unity. “We stand united with people who are deeply in sorrow and less fortunate during this tough times, because we all want to survive this hard glacial season, and also to make sure that we come out of this pandemic strong together as one,” said Mafahla.

Mr Mafahla said as MJM Industries this is not their first time donating to the community, they have been involved in different corporate social investments since 2012. He further said they have been an integral part of facilitating humanitarian efforts between mainly the mining industry and the houses for the physically disabled.

Mr Mafahla told WITBANK NEWS that they have been fortunate enough to get major support from sponsors and business partners as well as the community at large and that they are now planning to make another donation to other people who are desperately in need even though the next donation won’t be soon, but it will happen.

The MJM members said they have learned a lot from the communities that they have visited during the distribution of the blankets and this initiative has allowed them to learn different cultures and has uplifted the spirit of Ubuntu.

“During this task of giving back to the people, I have learned that through all our diversity, we all remain the same people and we have to appreciate whether it’s from the giver or receiver’s side, because that’s what keeps us united as one,” said the general manager of MJM, Teresha Lubambo.

One of the recipients who received a blanket said she did not expect such a magnificent blessing and she is grateful to be the chosen one in receiving something that will keep her warm during this unbearable winter.
