Suspects sought for rape and armed robbery

According to the police they then took over the driving and on the road, they gave people a lift and robbed them of their belongings

Police are requesting the community to assist in locating two suspects who raped two women and robbed a Quantum Kombi.

This incident happened on May 30.

“The owner of the Kombi told police that he was driving from Pretoria at approximately 18:30 when he picked up a hitchhiker on the N4 at Bronkhorstspruit, who told the driver that he was going to eMalahleni to buy petrol for his car,” Capt Lizzy Mkaudi, police spokesperson sketched the scene.

When they arrived at the vicinity of KG Mall in Vosman, the man asked the driver to take a turn to the location so that he could get money for the petrol.

They then drove to a house where the man rushed inside, but the driver patiently waited for him outside.

“Suddenly the man came out of the house accompanied by another man. One of the men occupied a seat just behind the driver and the other one took a front seat. They then asked the driver to continue driving and after a short distance of travel, the men suddenly produced firearms and instructed the driver to stop the kombi,” Capt Mkaudi said.

The men apparently forced the driver to the back seat, tied him with a seat belt, searched him, and took a wallet with cash, driver’s license as well as other belongings.

According to the police they then took over the driving and on the road, they gave people a lift and robbed them of their belongings.

“Two women were also given a lift whereafter the two suspects forced the owner to rape one woman while they gang-raped the other. After the ordeal, the suspects took the victims to the bushes where they tied them, but were rescued by a passer-by, then opened relevant cases for investigation,” Capt Mkaudi said.

This case is on the priority list at Vosman SAPS.

Anyone with information that can assist police to find the suspects is requested to contact Detective Colonel Solly Thobejane at 082 372 2195.
