Sanitary towel donation made by MissSATownship contestant

Over 200 sanitary pads were donated to young girls.

MissSATownship semi-finalist contestant Pretty Mtsweni, made an initiative to empower young girls in Phola. Pretty donated sanitary pads to young girls from Phola on May 8.  This donation was a token of appreciation for the support that she was given by members of Phola.

The donation was a campaign of Little Girl Arise foundation which seeks to help young girls from townships through donating sanitary towels for underprivileged young girls.

Pretty entered for MissSATownship 2021 and has been selected to be a part of the Top 50 of the national competition. Mtsweni expressed that even she is the only semi-finalist from Mpumalanga in the competition.

In her speech Pretty mentioned how important it is to her as she too had struggled with getting sanitary pads when she was still in school. Mtsweni also voiced that there are social ills within locations that she is trying to fight; issues like teenage pregnancy, drugs, and bullying are among the issues that are of concern.

Beyond being in the national competition, Mtsweni is a graduate in industrial and office management who has a great passion in healthy living and wellness.

Pretty is currently in the Top50 in the national competition and feels very confident that she will win the title. “Winning the competition would not only be for me, but it will be for every young woman in Phola who aspires to be successful one day. I would really appreciate it if people in my community votes for me and also attends the ceremony on May 29,” Pretty added.

MissSATownship will be hosting a crowning event on May 29 in Pretoria.
