Witbank Citylands held to a 1-1 draw

The ABC Motsepe League match was played at the Lynnville Stadium.

Witbank Citylads were held to a draw by Gembok Classic in a very interesting encounter. The ABC Motsepe League match was played at the Lynnville Stadium on Saturday, April 24; the game ended in a 1-1 draw. With both teams pushing for an early lead, Classic had a place-kick and the shot just sailed out. Poor defending by Classic to score an easy goal to make it 1-0 in the early minutes of the match. Citylads pressed hard to increase their lead but found the going very tough. Citylads were in control of the match with a Classic forward failing to find the back of the net while in a good position inside the penalty box. Classic had three corner-kicks in their attempt to find the equaliser and all yielded negative results. With play from one end of the field to the other with Classic slowly gaining their confidence and nearly scored after a good move. Citylads had a shot over the bar towards the end of the first half. Classic equalised after a move from the middle of the field to make it 1-1. In the second half, both teams made some substitutes and both were looking for the winning goal. Citylads had their moments and put Classic under pressure, but their forwards had left their scoring boots at home. A Citylads attack was saved for a corner-kick while Classic was denied a goal by a Citylads goalkeeper. While playing swings from one end to the other, the score remained the same and the teams had to share the spoils and with each getting a point for their efforts.
