Mini boot camp that supported the less fortunate in Phola

The camp was held at Oupiza Park in Phola on Saturday, April 24.

Members of various gyms came to support the first-ever bootcamp held in Phola.

The camp was held at Oupiza Park in Phola on Saturday, April 24.

The mission of the bootcamp was to change people’s perception of how to exercise by offering techniques that can be applied at home.

The camp was not only to support those who go to the gym; it was also for those who wanted to join but didn’t have the means to. Donations of used gym clothes were made and are meant to be distributed to those that don’t have any gym clothing.

The attendees came prepared and ready to exercise. Most had brought a bottle of water and a towel with them. Everyone went through a screening process and was sanitized.

Mokgadi Kubeka, one of the event organisers said she was pleased by the numbers of people who attended. What was more important was the donations that would help others in the community.

“We aim to help the community with workouts to regain their confidence. Our program helps to empower the less fortunate and give meaning to those who seek a healthier lifestyle,” Bakie Kubeka added.

The coach taught exercises that support the core, balance, building muscles and weight loss. More bootcamps will be organised for the communities and donations will be distributed soon.
