Former government employees can ask questions about their pension this weekend

The Government Employees Pension Fund outreach campaign will visit eMalahleni this weekend.

The Government Employees Pension Fund  (GEPF) outreach campaign will visit eMalahleni this weekend.

The main purpose of this initiative on Saturday, April 24 is to interact with the GEPF’s active members and beneficiaries to inform and educate them about the fund’s services, processes and benefits, such as child’s pension and unclaimed benefits.

Members will have their queries attended to on-site.

“It is hoped that through this initiative, we will resolve some of the GEPF pension-related matters our members might have in the province. Our members will also be able to update their personal information to prevent delays in paying their pension benefit when they retire,” said Nontuthuzel Jas from the government’s communication and information system.

The GEPF is aware of the current environment regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under normal circumstances, the campaign targets members up to the age of 64 years.

“At this point, in line with Covid-19 guidelines, we discourage members who are 60 years or older from attending this event. We will follow all the protocols regarding gatherings to ensure the safety of our clients in line with the Covid-19 guidelines. Members will be screened for Covid-19 symptoms at the entrance upon arrival, sanitized, walk straight to consultation desks and immediately leave when done. Members without face masks will be turned away at the main entrance of the venue,” Jas said.

Mpumalanga accounts for over 40 000 members of GEPF.
