Water is costing an arm and a leg

They even contacted the ward councillor who is not clear as to why they are paying so much for their water

The Dladla family staying at Clearwater started noticing that they have a problem with their electricity meter reading as they believe that they were paying much higher than the other residents in the same area.

They consulted the municipality about the problems and workers were sent to check if there were any problems and nothing was found to be wrong.

They went to the municipality and were told to pay about R3 600 to avoid having their electricity being cut off.

The issue of electricity was sorted and now they are having water problems.

They have contacted the municipality about the problem, but nothing is being solved as the record shows the same higher amount every month.

They even contacted the ward councillor who is not clear as to why they are paying so much for their water.

They say they have even made arrangements to pay the amount even though they have a dispute to avoid a cut-off.

In March they were billed R3 601 68 and for water they must pay R2 019 79.

A questionnaire was sent to the eMalahleni municipality communication manager Mr Lebo Mofokeng for a response and no response was received.
