The Mpumalanga Senior Indoor Hockey teams took part in the annual Indoor Series tournament.

Both the men and ladies teams ended fourth overall in the competition that ran over three days from March 20 to 22.

Many of the players have been a part of the Mpumalanga Mambas franchise, which is owned by the Hockey Farm.

The Hockey Farm built its indoor centre in 2015 and since then indoor hockey has really flourished in the province.

Tracey Flowers and Claudine Calitz have been running the senior indoor program for both the ladies and men for the past couple of years and have changed hockey in our province and provided a platform for players to do well.

Mpumalanga Hockey is also extremely proud of their very own Charlize Swanepoel who was announced in the SA Hockey team that will take part in the African Indoor Cup from April 15 to 18 in Durban. It will be a triangular between South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.

South Africa will be going up against their biggest rivals, Namibia, who were the winners of the last Afcon four years ago. The winners of Afcon will go to the World Cup in Belgium in 2022.

Charlize has been a part of the program at The Hockey Farm since she was in school and under the guidance of coach Brighty Mashaba has become one of the best hockey players in the country.
