Unwanted passengers in transport

It is alleged that two unknown suspects jumped into the driver’s car after stopping at a red robot, downtown.

Making a living by transporting residents in need to be somewhere, is no new job in the times we live in as more vehicle owners use their private vehicles for business purposes.

On March 17 a local cab driver received a call that his service is needed in the Central Business District (CBD) and drove from Klarinet to assist.

It is alleged that two unknown suspects jumped into the driver’s car after stopping at a red robot, downtown.

It is believed that one of the suspects pointed him with a firearm the moment they were in the vehicle and instructed him to move to the backseat.

After following these suspected hijackers’ instructions they took his cell phone and phoned another person, which is believed to be part of the hijacking plot.

They drove off after the phone call and allegedly picked up the suspect that was contacted.

The poor victim had to endure everything as he was still in the vehicle while everything played off.

It is believed that the suspect they picked up disconnected the tracking device in the vehicle before they headed for Verena Road.

After some time the victim was allegedly dropped off at a nearby bush that was too dark to figure out where it exactly was and the suspects fled the scene.

No arrests were made and the suspects are still unknown. The vehicle that was hijacked is a Silver Polo, registration JK 65 XR GP.

“Hijackings are becoming a huge concern as this is one of the numerous cases which were reported to Witbank Police Station with the same modus operandi,” Capt Eddie Hall, spokesperson from Witbank Police concluded.
