Man injured in shooting incident at Highveld Mall

Shots were fired and the driver of the bakkie was shot in the leg.

A shooting occurred in the underground parking lot of Highveld Mall, where one man was injured.
The incident occurred at about 09:30 on Saturday, March 27.

It’s still unclear how or what the motive for the shooting was. Two men were seated in a white bakkie when they were approached by armed men.

Shots were fired and the driver of the bakkie was shot in the leg.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and the injured man was transported to a nearby hospital.

Mr JP Bbenkele, General Manager from Highveld Mall confirmed the incident and said, “It’s concerning how many crime incidents there are in eMalahleni. I would like to say thank you to all those who responded to the incident – various ambulance services, the police and the Highveld Mall security. We are always trying to prevent such incidents from occurring.”
