Siyanqoba solving its electrification problems

Cllr Mswati Nkosi MMC for technical services addressed community members of Siyanqoba after electrical poles were burned and cables stolen in the area.

Cllr Mswati Nkosi MMC for technical services in his recent address to community members of Siyanqoba told them that it is a setback when people destroy municipality infrastructure that is put to help them. Electrical poles and cables were stolen resulting in a blackout in the area.

Cllr Mswati pointed out electrical poles which were burned as well as the cables are meant to supply bulk electricity in the area. Municipality workers were busy trying to fix the problem and assessing other damage in the area.

“This is sabotage and as the municipality we now have unplanned maintenance. The estimated damage is about half a million. There is a preliminary investigation and assessment being done at the moment. Once that is completed, we will be able to know what steps to take to fix the problem. I also want to encourage you that we need to take care and guard municipality infrastructure because one way or the other, it affects us all once damaged,” noted Cllr Nkosi.

He further said people have to be patient as the electrification programme is taking place.

He further encouraged community leaders to attend meetings on behalf of the community and present proper and correct feedback to them. He apologised on behalf of the municipality and promised that they will try to fix the problem.
