Your taps might be dry for the next few days

Taps in eMalahleni will run dry on March 9 from 06:00 until 18:00.

The water department will be carrying out repairs at the Witbank Dam raw water pump station.

This will be the reason some, if not all the taps in eMalahleni will run dry on March 9 from 06:00 until 18:00.

The maintenance team is scheduled to fix a leaking pump line and to install non-return valves and isolation valves.

“We, therefore, advise the community and businesses to fill up the on-site water storage facilities during this period and use water sparingly during the water shutdown,” said Mr Lebo Mofokeng municipal spokesperson.

Water tankers will only be available at strategic areas such as schools, clinics and police stations.

The water supply to all areas is expected to normalise by Thursday, March 11.

“Consumers are kindly requested to utilise water sparingly during this time whilst the municipality is trying to stabilise the system,” Mofokeng said.
