TLB ‘saves’ lives in Gordon Road

If it was not for a TLB standing in the road, the accident late last week would have been much more serious.

If it was not for a tractor loader backhoe (TLB) standing in the road, the accident late last week would have been much more serious.

The accident, however, was not casualty-free. A contract worker busy with a stormwater pipe in Gordon Road was injured when a man lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the TLB on Thursday, February 18.

Mr Muzi Ntuli said they were just wrapping up the project when they heard a noise.

“We were controlling a stop and go. A lady stopped and waited for her turn to drive when a car came from behind her, bumped her car, and slammed into the TLB. On the other side of the TLB was a group of workers and on the side, he slammed into one worker,” Ntuli said.

The contract worker was taken to hospital.

“The worker was discharged. He has difficulty walking, but he is alive, thanks to God’s grace,” Ntuli said.

Ms Jeanette Siwela went into shock on the scene and had to be rushed to hospital as her blood pressure had risen dangerously high. Mr Jabu Nkosi said his aunt is doing well.

The man did not want to grant WITBANK NEWS a proper interview on the scene.
