Emalahleni Local Municipality clamps down on illegal connections

The building control inspectors issued 14 notices to residents because they do not have the proper and necessary building plans in place.

The municipality manned-up and started clamping down on illegal electricity connections. They started ‘cleaning’ up in Emsagweni and Klarinet. Residents are not just getting a slap on the wrist, this time the municipality means business. Emsagweni Ext 9 and Kwa-Guqa Ext 3, 7, and 14 are R140 351 384.07 arrears on their municipal debt.

“We are committed to eradicating crime in this municipality. This operation is still on until everyone pays for the municipal services,” said the municipal spokesperson Mr Lebo Mofokeng.
