House robberies and break-ins have been known to be a daily worry in the minds of South Africans. T

The latest survey from the Department of Statistics South Africa showed that an estimated 169 000 incidences of home robberies occurred, affecting 139 000 households in 2019 and 2020.

The number of affected households represents 0,8% of all households in the country.

About 55% of households that experienced home robbery reported it to the police.

However, home robbery has constantly declined between 2015 and 2016 (506 000) and 2019 and 2020 (415 000).

On Wednesday, January 13 a house robbery in Dulcimer Street, Tasbet Park occurred.

Allegedly a man was woken up by sound coming from his kitchen door.

When he went to check for what the noise was, he found armed suspects in his house.

The victim closed the first door behind him until the suspects left the premises.

The suspects left with a TV and some clothes.

In the early morning hours on Monday, January 11 a house in Keats Street, X8 was also targeted.

Allegedly the owner of the house made sure that the gate was locked outside before going to bed.

When waking up, he found that his gate’s lock was broken.

He then further inspected his premises to find that his business scooter that was parked inside the garage was stolen.
