Take a shot at archery

From November 30 they will be practising at Cambridge Academy from 17:00 to 21:00

The acronym NASP archery may be very confusing for many archers outside the NASP family.

NASP means National Archery in the Schools Programme, a style of archery enjoyed by more than 14 million school attending archers from 12 different countries around the world.

This specific style of archery became so popular that adults also started participating.

NASP officially extended the programme to also include senior archers that are archers who have left school but still want to enjoy the NASP style of archery.

However, the acronym NASP archery remained unchanged and is used for both the junior and senior categories participating in this style of archery.

Today NASP archery worldwide includes two categories each with two subcategories namely the junior category (original NASP archery for school children from Grade 4 to 12) plus the senior category (adults).

The senior category is called the Adult Archery Group (AAG) in Africa or NASP Alumni in North America.
Both categories are divided into the bull’s eye and 3D.

NASP South Africa is a non-profit company who endeavours to bring about transformation in archery in South Africa.

The development programme reaches out to previously disadvantaged schools and communities, especially those in remote areas without the much-needed sports facilities, to bring archery to them.

The objective is not only to bring a sport that athletes, non-athletes and even physically challenged people can enjoy to these schools and communities, but also to identify talent for further development and participating in elite archery events.

Schools like Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog, Hoër Tegniese Skool, Cambridge Academy and Laerskool Klipfontein has NASP archery as a school sport.

From November 30 they will be practising at Cambridge Academy from 17:00 to 21:00.
