Station commander discourages vigilante acts

Police were summoned to the scene where a man was found lying on the ground, burnt and stabbed

The Station Commander of Vosman Police Station Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu is discouraging an act of mob justice that took place in Lynnville.

The mob justice took place on Sunday, September 6, where a person was brutally killed by community members in Hector Road.

Police were summoned to the scene where a man was found lying on the ground, burnt and stabbed.

The man was declared dead on the scene.

According to information gathered from bystanders, the victim was suspected of burglary cases in the area and was allegedly killed by the community.

The deceased was identified by family as Simphiwe Motha.

Currently, the suspects are unknown.

The Station Commander Brigadier Ndlovu requests the community not to take the law into their own hands.

He mentioned that any wrongdoing should be reported at the police because vigilantism is punishable by law as it bears an element of criminality.
