Garage bombed for cash

The safe exploded and the suspects left a lot of damage inside the convenience store

Extreme measures were taken to get access into a safe of a local garage in eMalahleni.

On Tuesday morning, August 18 four armed males held up attendants to open the entrance door at the Engen Convenience in Klarinet Extention 8.

The entrance door is normally locked after 22:30.

The damage left by the explosives.

The attendants and cashiers on duty were forced to lie down in the ablution facility by one suspect while the other two suspects set up the explosives around the drop safe.

The safe exploded and the suspects left a lot of damage inside the convenience store.

Sanjay Govind owner of the Engen Garage said, “Attempts to set up a satellite police station charge office in the area has failed. We would dearly like the police to set up an office at our building which we will provide at no cost, which could service the area”.
