Doorstep-baby steals hearts in eMalahleni

The community’s continued support is amazing in the support of the SACCW Baby Safe Box and Care Bag Division so now they can see the difference it can make in a child's life

Prayers and donations are streaming in for the newborn baby that was found on a doorstep of a house in Ezinambe Extension 4,eMalahleni.

The resident Mr Xolani Nkosi told WITBANK NEWS in disbelief that he was leaving his house on Tuesday, July 21 to go to work.

He opened the back door of his house and walked out his gate but for some reason, he looked back towards the house and spotted a blanket that was placed at the front door of his house.

After receiving the news of a baby that was abandoned Maureen Scheepers, founder of the SACCW Baby Safe boxes in eMalahleni decided to make contact with the hospital and donate a SACCW care bag to the little survivor on July 22.

“A special thanks to everyone that had donated towards the care bag project in the past year. These past donations meant that we immediately had everything we needed to make up a complete bag,” said Scheepers.

She further explained that it was such a privilege to meet the baby who was initially thought to be a little boy but to their surprise was a little girl.

“We are happy to report that she is overall healthy and a beautiful baby girl,” explained Scheepers.

Pastor Nadine van Schalkwyk from Lewende Woord Kerk

Witbank accompanied Scheepers to the hospital to pray life and favour over the baby who was still nameless.

Afterwards van Schalkwyk gave her a name, “Welcome to the world, Deborah. Deborah in the Bible was a mother, a judge and a prophet. Every person is designed for God. I believe that God will use her voice on earth. She will testify of the goodness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be a carrier of Hope, a strong woman, a world changer,” said Van Schalkwyk.

The community’s continued support is amazing in the support of the SACCW Baby Safe Box and Care Bag Division so now they can see the difference it can make in a child’s life.

“Anyone that would like to donate towards this cause can contact me directly on 082 565 6770,” Scheepers concluded.

A case of child neglect was opened and is currently being investigated by Vosman Police.
