Robber’s thirst for money

Checkers Ben Fleur Boulevard official statement of the robbery that took place on July 1.

Four armed men entered Checkers Ben Fleur Boulevard for only one reason as they were thirsty for money.

On July 1 an armed robbery took place during business hours at the centre in Ben Fleur but luckily no one was injured in the armed robbery and all the clients and staff was safe.

The manager at the Ben Fleur Boulevard, Ms Monica Joao, said that the shopping centre’s management and security service provider was doing all that they could to assist the South African Police Services (SAPS) with an investigation into the armed robbery that took place.

She confirmed that four armed men had entered into the Checkers supermarket and had made off with R6 000 from the Money market counter.

Although the staff was deeply traumatised, there were no serious injuries as a result of this incident.

“We believe that a syndicate might be operating in this area and we are aware of similar incidents having taken place at other shopping centres, we would like to reassure our shoppers that we have stepped up security and are being particularly vigilant as their safety and peace of mind are our top priorities,” she said.
