Schools in our city are still safe

So far schools in Emalahleni are safe from criminals.

Mpumalanga schools are a sitting duck and criminals are having a feast.

A total of 72 schools were broken into throughout the province, in the Bohlabel District seven, in Ehlanzeni nine, Nkangala District 28 and Gert Sibande District 28.

“No break-ins have been reported at schools in eMalahleni,” said Capt Eddie Hall, police spokesperson.

The MEC for Education, Mr Bonakele Majuba condemned the burglary of schools and has called on communities to expose the criminals behind these hideous deeds.

“The destruction and breaking into public or private property is uncalled for and must be condemned with the strongest terms it deserves. Schools and any public property must not in any way be targets for criminal activity because they sorely exist to empower our children and communities and for this reason, they need to be protected.  The vandalism and burglary are counterproductive to the developmental agenda of the government. I request our communities to work with the police to identify the culprits behind this so that in turn they may be brought to book,” said MEC Majuba.
