Any time is time for thieves to steal

They attacked him with knives and demanded all his belongings

A man driving in Beatty Street was targeted as he stopped at a red robot.

The incident took place on Friday, March 6, around 05:00.

As he was waiting for the robot to turn green, the man heard the sound of a window breaking and noticed that his passenger window was broken.

He saw two men and one pointed a firearm at him.

The suspects took his cell phone and wallet that was on the passenger seat and fled.

Another robbery took place on Friday, February 28, at around 19:15 when an elderly local pastor was targeted and his belongings and cash were stolen from him.

The pastor was coming from Pretoria and was dropped off at the N4 National Road off-ramp towards Mandela Drive, where there was transport waiting to pick him up.

As he was walking towards the robots, six men appeared from a fence opposite the shopping centre.

They attacked him with knives and demanded all his belongings.

The man was pulled into the tall grass along the N4 and was allegedly held hostage as the suspects gathered all the man’s items including banking details.

Two of the suspects went to withdraw all the money from his accounts as the rest still kept him hostage.

The man was stabbed on his waist.

The items taken by the suspects include a Dell laptop, a cell phone, a nine-carat gold ring, a backpack, a wallet including bank cards and pastoral credential cards, and 16 and 32 GB memory sticks.

All these items amount to R23 000.

Both theft cases were opened at Witbank Police Station.
