A student arrested during the Nkangala Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College student protest was released the same day.

Witbank SAPS communications officer, Captain Eddie Hall confirmed.

The arrest took place on Tuesday morning, March 3.

Captain Hall said the student was taken away because he was seen as an instigator of the protest.

“The student was not charged with any crime and he was let go the same day,” Captain Hall added.

The students are still protesting for accommodation assistance from the institution and the distribution of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) allowances to every student.

On Thursday, March 5, Out-going Student Representative Council member, Patience Grootboom, told WITBANK NEWS that Nated Engineering students are continuing with lectures because of their soon upcoming tests.
