A 12-year-old boy injured after bus and taxi collide in Phola

Fortunately, the learners and drivers from both vehicles were not injured

A 12-year-old school boy sustained injuries after a bus and a Toyota Quantum collided.

The bus was overtaking a vehicle when it faced on with the taxi.

Allegedly, the bus’ brakes failed resulting to the collision.

The accident took place on Friday, March 6 at around 7:05 in Dlamini Street near Ngoriyana stream.

A media statement was issued by Phola SAPS stating that the bus was carrying 30 learners from Kendal and the taxi was carrying four learners from Phola to Ogies.

Fortunately, the learners and drivers from both vehicles were not injured.

The 12-year-old that was injured was walking on the side of the road with his cousin and other fellow learners when he got hit by the bus. He sustained visible injuries on his head, hands and legs.

He was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

The bus was reported to be deregistered after the accident.
