WATCH: A mudslide destructs wall at Empumelelweni

Rain does not always come with blessings.

The heavy rain that poured down at the beginning of February left a family in a crisis.

After the rain, a mudslide occurred by the entryway to the home causing the boundary wall to fall. The resident situated in Empumelelweni Ext 5.

“On Tuesday, February 11, we heard a loud noise and we came out of the house and found out that the wall had fallen,” said Vuyo Mncono, the resident at the affected home.
The house is built close to the gate where the mudslide took place. “We had to move out of the house to the garage because we are scared that the rest of the boundary wall might fall while we are sleeping.”

Vuyo lives with his father, his sister and his two brothers.

“We had to ask the neighbours for space for the car because we need the garage to sleep in and besides that, there is no entryway for the car.”

Vuyo said that they reported the matter to the councillor of Ward 29.

“We reported the issue to our councillor and he came on Thursday, February 13, and told us that he will report to Emalahleni Local Municipality and come back to us. He hasn’t come back to us with a report from the municipality.”

The Mncono family is hoping that they will get help with they can feel safe again.
