Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) eMalahleni campus students gathered together to protest against the overpriced local accommodation that is accredited by the National Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

The members of the eMalahleni Student Representative Council who wished to remain anonymous explained further the reasons to protest on Tuesday, February 11.

“The protest is all about the TUT Enterprise division for taking decisions to benefit themselves such as over-pricing NSFAS accredited accomodation in eMalahleni. The other reason we are protesting is that a lot of students have not received their allowances for books while students at other campuses have received theirs.”

They added: “As we partake in the protest, we have been threatened to get expulsions. We need to be heard.”

The police are on scene.

The community is urged to avoid France Quass Avenue.
