SACEA makes a donation to two homes in Ga-Nala

The haven is a place of safety for children referred by the Children’s Court due to circumstances that make it impossible for these children to remain in parental homes

The South African Collieries Engineers Association (SACEA) is proud to announce that a donation of R25 000 each has been handed over to the Cosmos Childrens Haven and Sonneblom Pleegsorg Sofcare on Thursday, January 30.

The Association President (Mr Marcin Hyra), Incoming President (Mrs Annette Small and Vice-President (Mr Hennie Lombard) handed over the donation to the Cosmos Childrens Haven & Sonneblom Pleegsorg Sofcare and expressed their gratitude to these organisations for caring for the children in their care.

About Cosmos Childrens Haven.

The Cosmos Childrens Haven, a children’s home in Kriel currently cares for 76 children between the ages of 0- 18 years on an ongoing basis.

Although care is given for over 76 children, state subsidy is received for 60 children.

The haven relies heavily on the community to help with the financial burden with the children.

The haven functions independently and does fundraising to supplement the shortfall and to provide for these children’s needs.

The haven is a place of safety for children referred by the Children’s Court due to circumstances that make it impossible for these children to remain in parental homes.

Any help given to keep the organization being functional and provide in assisting the needs of these children and are highly appreciated.

About Sonneblom Pleegsorg- Softcare.

The Sonneblom Pleegsorg- Sofcare home in Kriel currently cares for four disabled children between the ages of 9 – 25 years on an ongoing basis.

The home relies on the community and functions independently and does fundraising to supplement the shortfall and to provide for the children’s needs.

The care of these children and needs vary over time with changes in the clinical condition, stages of lifespan and carers typically face heavy demands and many stressors such as poor or reduced physical and/or mental health.

The current two carers have been providing care for over 16 years on an ongoing basis.

Any help given to keep the organization being functional and provide in assisting the needs of these children and are highly appreciated.

About SACEA

The South African Colliery Engineers’ Association was founded in 1979.

The Association aims to uphold the status of the Engineering and Mining profession by providing mutual assistance and advancement of Engineering in the Coal Mining and associated industries.

Throughout the year SACEA arranges meetings for the interchange of ideas and information, the discussion of new problems and the promotion of technical, intellectual and social events for members.

SACEA is also recognized through the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Voluntary Association which provides some influence in terms of the accreditation of learning materials and institutions.
