Update on water outage in eMalahleni

The plant is anticipated to be commissioned around 14:00 and water production from the plant to anticipate by 20:00

After numerous complaints were laid about the water problems this past week (Read the WITBANK NEWS edition of January 24) the municipality spokesperson Mr Lebo Mofokeng had the following feedback for the residents in a media statement:

Please be informed of the following developments on the repair works and restoration of the Witbank Water Treatment Plant.

The leak was identified and located in a dangerous position and a confined space to work in. Furthermore the commissioning of equipment was problematic due to restricted entrances.

The municipal team and external service providers had to burn the midnight oil to fast track the repairs throughout the night.

The plant is anticipated to be commissioned around 14:00 and water production from the plant to anticipate by 20:00.

The system is running dry and most communities will start experiencing water shortages.

The system will take some time to replenish and all consumers are urged to use water sparingly during this time.
