New year, new business robberies

People like to start a new year with new resolutions and new goals – for businesses the same applies but it is alleged that these three businesses fell victims to the robbers coming into a new year.

It is alleged that on Sunday, January 5 at Masakhane J41 two males, one being armed fired a weapon before entering the shop and demanded the victim on duty for money.

The suspects left with money without harming anyone.

On Friday, January 3 a victim alleged that he was in his shop on duty near the Siyanqoba Verena road when he was approached by three unknown males asking for donations. While attending to the three suspects, one of the three hit him with a pipe and stone. When the victim was on the ground, the suspects left with cigarettes, money and groceries.

On the same day on January 3, the Quicksilver shop at Highveld Mall was also a target for robbery.

It is alleged that while on duty with her colleagues, two customers entered the shop and was busy browsing through clothes and one asked for assistance.

After being helped and taken to the till to pay, he revealed a firearm while pointing and demanding to keep quite and hand over the money in the till.

The suspects left the victims at the back of the shop and tied them up with cable ties. No injuries were obtained and the suspects left with the money and some clothes.
