[VIDEO] Bail denied for suspect who allegedly assaulted matric pupil

Johan Koekemoer, the suspect in the attempted murder case against Darren Joseph appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court again today, Tuesday November 19.

After the defence as well as the state had the opportunity to state their cases it was decided by the magistrate that it would be against the interest of justice to allow Koekemoer out on bail.

Sobs filled the courtroom after this decision.

Friends and family of Darren, who is a matric learner at HTS, sobbed from relief. Koekemoer also shed some tears as he was taken back to the holding cells.

The case has been postponed until Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

Koekemoer is accused of allegedly beating Darren over the head with a shock absorber causing severe head injuries as well as damaging his mother’s Volkswagen Polo. The incident occurred on Friday, November 8.
