The mother and daughter who went missing in May has been reunited with her family following the end of a 162 days ordeal.

WITBANK NEWS earlier reported on the Pinetown woman that was rescued in a house in eMalahleni after being missing for almost six months.

According to the Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, Sandra was conscious but in what he described as a “bad state” in the house in eMalahleni.

“The 45-year-old victim was found bound in chains at a house in eMalahleni and was subsequently rescued by an integrated team of the Hawks assisted by Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Provincial Organised crime members and Ekurhuleni Metro Police. Three luxury vehicles worth R3 million and a firearm have since been seized for further investigation,” the article stated.

“The four suspects appeared in Durban Regional Court on six charges including kidnapping, two cases of attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, extortion and entering and remaining in the republic without a valid permit,” Highway Mail reported on November 11.

The case has been adjourned until November 18 while legal representation for the accused is secured.

The family has issued a statement asking for time to process the breakthrough and allow her the space to heal from her ordeal.

“We are overjoyed to announce that Sandra was found on Thursday night and reunited with her family. She is currently with her loved ones and beginning her road to recovery.”
