Thieves appear in the night

When they were about to reach Bushman Mine, they told him to stop, they pushed him out of the truck and tied him with shoe laces in the near bushes

Drivers travelling at the wee hours of the morning are often open to attacks with some more malicious than others; these events are handled with terror by perpetrators leaving drivers traumatised and further more, failed by justice.

On Tuesday, October 8 at 22:00 it is alleged that a truck driver was driving behind his colleague who was in another truck from Kromdraai Mine on their way to the Navigation Plant in Clewer.

He noticed that the truck was not moving as usual; he picked up his two-way radio and informed his colleague, that is when the truck stopped.

He then noticed a man at the passenger’s door and another man pointing a firearm at his colleague.

Four men entered the truck and instructed his colleague to drive straight to Witbank CBD.

The highjackers overheard on the two-way radio that they planned to block the Klarinet Road.

They instructed the colleague to stop the truck, took his cellphones and fled into the Siyaqoba neighbourhood.

On Wednesday, October 9 at 02:35 a truck driver was travelling on the R555, he stopped at the yield sign and tried to move the truck but couldn’t.

He suspected that the brakes were tampered with.

When he went to check on it, he was approached by six men who were armed, one pointed a firearm at him and instructed him to get into the truck and drive while the rest of the men got in the truck and directed him to an unknown destination.

When they were about to reach Bushman Mine, they told him to stop, they pushed him out of the truck and tied him with shoe laces in the near bushes.

They removed eight tyres off the truck and left.

The case is still under investigation by the police.

On Thursday, October 10 at 06:39 while on duty CCTV footage revealed an active car highjacking took place at Diana Street, Del Judor.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the yard when a man with a firearm came threatening him.

The man and his accomplice got into the vehicle and left.

The vehicle was found in Bronkorstspruit.

No arrests have been made.
