Water summit might bring answers

The summit will outline the status quo of water services, presented projected plans and development opportunities

The Emalahleni Local Municipality will be hosting a water summit on September 4 and 5.

The aim of the water summit is to enhance public-private partnership through investment by addressing water challenges that the city currently faces and promote economic growth and sustainable development for the municipality.

The focus will relate to the assurance of water security and improved service delivery as part of the municipalities vision to be the center of excellence and innovation.

The summit will outline the status quo of water services, presented projected plans and development opportunities.

Water supply is key to economic growth, sustainable development and poverty alleviation.

The municipality has developed an institutional financial recovery plan which incorporates critical plans of water and sanitation infrastructure development initiatives The summit seeks to embrace the plan and strategic institutional objectives in the context of sustainable water services provision and enhance economic growth.

“The municipality would also like to encourage residents of Emalahleni to pay for services that are being provided to them as this will contribute to the objectives of the water summit and the financial recovery plan,” said Mr Lebo Mofokeng, municipal spokesperson.
