‘Boom’ went the blast and the whole road was cracked

While the WITBANK NEWS was there, five trucks made a U-turn after seeing that the road is closed and used an alternative road

After one blast from a mine situated close to Ogies, the whole road going towards Bethal out of Ogies was cracked.

Mr Sattar Adam, a local business owner in Ogies came to WITBANK NEWS on August 14, complaining about him and several other business owners losing business.

This happened after the main road towards Bethal, from Ogies was closed due to cracks caused by a mine that was blasting a week before he said.

WITBANK NEWS went out to this closed road and Adam showed how the cracks were marked.

“As you can see there are 10 cracks that were marked by the municipality and they closed up the road and left. The day after they first closed up the road, users drove over the pile of ground so the municipality just came back and planted road signs in the road and left again.”

While the WITBANK NEWS was there, five trucks made a U-turn after seeing that the road is closed and used an alternative road.

Another businessman approached Adam and asked him how to drive to the alternative road as he is from Gauteng and don’t know the town.

“This is frustrating us as you can see my business is situated next to this disaster. I am losing so much business because no vehicle or truck passes my garage,” Adam explained.

Before going to print Adam let the WITBANK NEWS know that the road was opened after numerous complaints were lodged.
