Beware of the business robbers

One of the employees confirmed that the robbers took clothing, mostly Nike and Adidas

Businesses are still the target, with robberies still taking place week after week.

The most recent incident took place early on Tuesday morning, July 30 around 04:30 when robbers gained entrance to a clothing store in Delville Street.

One of the employees confirmed that the robbers took clothing, mostly Nike and Adidas.

“We are still busy with stock take at the moment,” the employee said; “but they took no money, just clothing.”

He added: “They opened the security roller doors and then the doors to the store to gain access. The vehicle they used had no plates and we are not sure of the vehicle make.”

On July 27 another business was robbed on the Verena Road.

The security guard on duty reported that at around 01:45 he was sitting outside the guard room when he saw a white Ford Ranger and the driver of the car asked the guard to come closer, he wanted to ask something.

In the corner of his eye the guard saw his colleague approaching him, hands in the air and the guard knew there was trouble.

The guard saw fire arms and they were instructed to wait in the guard room where they were tied with rope. After around 20 minutes the guards untied themselves and saw that a water pump was stolen.

On July 26, just past 18:00 another business was robbed in Plumer Street.

The guard on duty was approached by two armed men, and the robbers demanded money from the till points.

The suspects fled in a grey Polo Vivo, with an undisclosed amount of money.

In another incident on July 25 the security guards were the victims once again when they were surrounded by five males, around 01:00 that morning.

The guards told police that their hands were tied with shoe laces and four suspects gained entry to the store and fled with cash, cigarettes and more.

No arrests have been made in this regards, but Capt Eddie Hall, media spokesperson for the Witbank Police stated in a previous article: “We urge the public to notify the police via the CPF (Community Policing Forum) or control room of any suspect vehicles at your premise as soon as possible. When you bank, do it at irregular intervals, and keep your cash to a minimal.”
