Plasma robbers at it again

A case of house break-in was opened together with a case of pointing of firearm and is currently being investigated by Witbank SAPS

As residents thought that the plasma robbers will leave the town after their last attempt of getting caught earlier this year, the guys are back again.

On June 18 SACCW (South African Community Crime Watch) received a frantic call from a public member requesting assistance at her mother’s residence in Die Heuwel Proper.

On arrival Operations Co-Ordinator Maureen Scheepers found a neighbour on the scene of crime stating that two males had broken into the residence.

“At first I thought my neighbours were busy moving, but the men were rude and didn’t greet me when I greeted them” said a resident living in the complex.

“I had a bad feeling and went out to check on them again when I saw them loading the television into a white Volkswagen Polo TSi back seat. I got into my vehicle and tried to follow them when they stopped at another residence in Woltemade Street. I drove towards them when one of the men took out a firearm and pointed it at me. I reversed my vehicle and drove to the nearest petrol station and called the emergency numbers on the allocated boards from the SACCW,” he added.

A case of house break-in was opened together with a case of pointing of firearm and is currently being investigated by Witbank SAPS.

“It’s important for residents to be vigilant when driving in their neighbourhood; when you spot something that seems out of the norm, report it immediately to the authorities or your area neighbourhood watch group. We do not recommend approaching these suspects as most of them are armed and will not hesitate to shoot if you interfere, write down all relevant information like vehicle description and registration number with details of the suspects and give it to the relevant person when reporting. Always keep your own safety in mind when witnessing a crime,” said David Wessels, Operations Director of SACCW.
