Celulwazi celebrates children’s day

The children recited some of their basic rights and they were lead by 6-year-old Ntombenhle Mchunu from Celulwazi Pre-school

In celebration of International Children’s day, Celulwazi Pre-school in Kwa Guqa Ext 7 hosted a joyful event to recognise the day.

The event was hosted on Thursday, June 6, when children from Sdingulwazi Pre-school joined in for the fun and awareness.

Vice-Principal of Celulwazi Pre-school, Mr Mathapelo Mashego said that the aim of the event was to encourage children to know their rights.

The children recited some of their basic rights and they were lead by 6-year-old Ntombenhle Mchunu from Celulwazi Pre-school.

A few guests such as Vosman SAPS communications officer Sergent Kgomotso Maluleke and social worker Thandi Mofokeng were invited to the event.

Sergent Maluleke told the children to not be afraid of the police and when they come across a bad situation, they must know that the police are always available to protect them.

Social worker Mofokeng also encouraged the children to know their rights and they should know that social workers can help them get food, clothes, social grant and shelter.

Mashego highlighted that they do not stop at teaching the children their rights on Children’s day only, “We also teach the children about their rights on a daily basis and to also make them aware that children are also celebrated in the month of June as well as the youth and fathers.”
