Vosman Police Station communicating officer Sergeant Kgomotso Maluleke has also give tips to the public.

She said that families must not leave houses unattended; they may ask a family member to guard houses if they are not around.

Not to leave clothes on a washing line for the whole day because that will alarm criminals that there is no one in the house.

Not to leave garage doors open during the day as there are things in the garage that people store (like electrical appliances) that will attract criminals to come during the night to steal.

They must increase on major security to install burglar bars on windows and doors and not to post on social media while the family is on vacation; that automatically informs criminals that there’s no one in the house. She said as police they need to prevent burglaries at residential premises by following security tips.
