A rape case involving a 9-year-old girl was reported at Witbank police station.
The mother of the young girl alleged that her daughter was raped by a known man on Saturday, May 25 in Coronation.
She said that her daughter complained that her private part was hurting, she then checked her and saw that she had some kind of a rash.
The following day on Sunday, May 26, her daughter allegedly told her that a man which they have identified to the police had been raping her and giving her money to not tell anyone.
The 54-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday, May 30 and appeared at eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Friday, May 31.
The case was postponed to Friday, June 7.
Another rape was reported that took place on Sunday, May 26 at around 21:30 at night.
The woman was from the Highveld Mall and hitchhiking.
Three males approached her and forced her to go with them.
They went to the bushes near the National Road N4 and took her clothes off and the money she had with her.
She alleged that the suspects raped her.
It is not clear if she was gang raped or raped by one of the suspects.
The suspects are unknown.
