Televisions even higher in demand

But lately owning a television adds you to the line to possibly being robbed at one stage or another

When you purchase a television you do so to watch your favourite soapies, chill out in front of the television on a lazy Sunday afternoon or just enjoy some good old rugby.

But lately owning a television adds you to the line to possibly being robbed at one stage or another.

The famous ‘plasma robbers’ are still on the loose, whether it’s one group or many groups, their modus operandi still seem to be the same.

Damage your house, break your burglar bars and take a television with maybe something else.

You will cough up a good amount at the end of this burglary or robbery, but they have what they came for.

Numerous incidents have been reported to the Witbank Police this past week, yet again.

On May 23 another resident left his home around 09:30 with all in order.

Shortly after his departure he received a call from his neighbour informing him about suspicious activity at his home.

He rushed home, only to find his front gate open as well as an open front door which was seemingly forced open.

He realised that his television and safe as well as car keys were stolen.

An attempted break-in was also reported on the same day.

This took place around 11:05 when the resident was inside her house and she reportedly heard the front door banging, as if it was forcefully opened.

She went to check and the suspect grabbed her by her arm. She screamed, hoping anyone would hear her and realise that something is wrong.

Her husband reportedly came running, and the suspects decided to make a run for it, leaving empty handed.

On May 22 around 10:30 the complainant left his premise with all doors locked and windows closed.

When he came home a few hours later, he found that there was a break-in at his house and his television, among other items were stolen.

Cases of house break-in were reported at the Witbank Police and are still under investigation.

The victims were not available for comment before going to print.
