Money gone, after cross pavement robbery

As the guard exited the building he was held up by the two suspects and robbed of his firearm and two of the canisters.

Robbers ensured their own month-end when they robbed a G4S (Group 4 Securicor) cash drop before the money made it to the van.

A police statement read that on Tuesday, April 30 around 16:15 G4S made their usual pickup at the licensing offices.

The crew of the vehicle entered the building to pick up the canisters while the driver waited inside the vehicle.

Even though the licensing office closed at 16:00 the test station was still open and therefore access gates into the premise were still open.

It is further stated that the two suspects approached the building but hid themselves behind an ablution building adjacent to the door where the guard had to exit, after he obtained the cash canisters.

A third suspect was at the guard house keeping two unarmed guards hostage, while a fourth was waiting in an old shape silver Toyota Corolla with an unknown Eastern Cape registration number.
